
5th graders from Bloom, Brookview, Johnson, & Welsh were treated to a holiday concert this morning at Guilford HS under the direction of Mrs. Kubacki. The entire concert was performed by the high school musicians who also showcased how each instrument worked. Mr. Walls' choir students also performed for the 5th graders.

RPS 205's DEI department took 28 students across all 5 high schools to College Preview Day at Central State University on November 8th – 9th.
Students experienced campus life & learned more about college opportunities at one of the Midwest premier HBCU including:
● Cheer, Band, and Choir performances
● Met current students, faculty, & university leadership
● Toured residence halls, student support services, & other facilities
● Attended the Greek Stroll
● Attended the Football game against their rival Kentucky State University

Hi Five Fridays continues at Lewis Lemon as Guilford basketball players welcome students to school!






Guilford Shield handoff between Mrs. Morris de Hernandez and Mrs. Imbach. Teacher's nominate their colleagues each month and then decorate their section. Congrats!


PROJECT COMPLETE: Both Swanson (Guilford/East) & Wyeth (Auburn/Jefferson) had their stadiums renovated. Improvements started in April and ended in October.
Highlights:
Main grandstands included concrete repairs, underside painting, & replacement of bleachers with new aluminum bench seating. Visitor bleachers were serviced & repaired.
Renovations to the press boxes including new roof, doors, countertops, flooring, painting, & lighting.
Painting of stadium light poles and relocation of sound system.

2004 Guilford High School graduate Jake Runestad has been nominated for a GRAMMY! It's for the composer's album “A Dream So Bright: Choral Music of Jake Runestad.” It's one of five nominees in the category Best Choral Performance. Winners will be announced on February 2.


🌟Congratulations to our Athletes of The Week, Dylan Legoo and Madison Murray!
Dylan- He qualified for the Special Olympics state bowling tournament shooting a personal best 298 and helped Guilford's Special Olympics basketball team defeat Belvidere earlier this week!
Madison- delivered standout performances, placing 4th in the 50 Free with a personal best time of 26.94, marking a 2.6% improvement. She also secured 3rd in the 100 Free with a season-best time of 59.37, a 4.2% improvement.

Starting a new tradition! Every Friday our basketball teams will participate in "High Five Fridays." Students at our feeder schools will get these warm welcomes to their day from the high schoolers.



Guilford SALT spent some time reading with new kinder buddies in Mrs. Rabon's class at Spring Creek this morning. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their time together!




This week's Athletes of the Week
Stella Seminerio (Swimming) - Stella achieved an impressive personal best in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:11.66, securing a victory against Byron, a sectional powerhouse. At the Cougar Sprint Meet, she dominated the 50 fly with another personal best of 28.94, dropping 1.01 seconds.
Landon Bachta (Cross Country) - Landon finished 5th in the NIC-10 conference meet and has been an outstanding runner for his four years on varsity.

Alaina Wahler (Swimming)- Had a remarkable performance at the J-Hawk Invite. Participating in multiple events, she recorded personal bests (PB) in both the 50-yard and 100-yard breaststroke, as well as in the 200-yard individual medley (IM). Notably, she finished 8th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:20.31, improving her personal record by 3.1%, and secured 9th place in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:40.13, showing consistent progress in her performances.
